Trade and Investment
Namibia is ranked amongst the world's most politically stable countries, with guaranteed safety, security and rule of law.
Namibia is ambitiously establishing herself as a gateway for industrialisation in Southern Africa, leveraging the strategic location complemented by the world-class port at Walvis Bay, abundant natural resources, and forward-looking policies. With the best road network in Africa, Namibia serves as a logistics hub for road, rail, and sea transportation, connecting neighbouring countries and the Southern African Development Community to the global marketplace.
The primary role of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, under which the activities of trade and investment fall, is to spearhead trade and industrial development in Namibia, and perhaps more important, to promote and attract local and foreign investment. Appropriate mechanisms have also been established in order to pursue the policy of economic diplomacy.
Namibia offers investment opportunities in various areas and sectors. The country boasts an impressive rating as a competitive investment location. Besides its continuous ranking among the five most competitive economies in Africa by the World Economic Forum, Namibia also achieved a positive rating from the 2006 Fitch Ratings and a “B” Category Country Risk rating by the London-based Economic Intelligence Unit, the highest score achieved in sub-Saharan Africa.
Political stability, good governance and the respect for the rule of law, investment-friendly legislative and regulatory framework, competitive incentive regimes, a low crime rate and world-class physical infrastructure round off Namibia’s attractiveness for business and investment.
Namibia aspires for sustainable economic growth through investment, industrialisation and trade. In this context, the Namibia High Commission in Tanzania is renewing its call to Tanzanian and East African business persons to invest in Namibia, and secondly, to explore joint venture partnerships in mining, agriculture, infrastructure development and manufacturing amongst other fields.
If you are looking for investment opportunities, or wish to develop strategic partnerships in Namibia, or outsource products or services, or looking for suppliers or manufacturers, the Mission stands ready to assist by providing you relevant information and linking you up with potential counterparts in Namibia.
